Cimarron Elementary School, located in Cimarron, Kansas,
serves grades PreK through 6. Our September 20 enrollment for the 2007-2008
school year was 364.
Cimarron Elementary is proud of the academic excellence
it has demonstrated over the last several years. We have earned recognition
as Master School due to our success in meeting the goals of the Reading
Renaissance portion of the Accelerated Reader Program. This has occurred
every year since the 1999-2000 school year.
The high scores attained
on the 2006-2007 state assessment test in reading and math allowed us
to be recognized as a State Standard of Excellence School.
We strive every
day to provide an environment, which encourages physical activity and
fosters the development of a positive self-image and success in academics
and the arts. |
- Our preschool (kinderprep) is a 4-year-old at-risk program
that is capable of serving up to 30 students.
- Our Kindergarten program consists of three ½ day sections served
by one full time teacher and one ½ time teacher.
- 1st-6th grade classes will all be divided into three sections for
the 2008-2009 school year. This will allow for all but one grade to
have class sizes under 20.
- Our special education department is staffed with two full time instructors.
We are a member of the Southwest Kansas Area Cooperative District,
which also fills our needs for speech pathologist, psychologist, physical
therapist, occupational therapist and vision specialist.
- Music and physical education are offered to all classes on an everyday
basis.
- Art is offered once a week for grades 4-6 and once a week for one
semester for grade 2-3 with a certified instructor. Kindergarten and
1st grade provide all of their art.
- A full time counselor, librarian, and school nurse
serve the elementary school.
