February 25, 2018

The Bluejay wrestlers had a great showing at the State tournament in Hays this past weekend.  It was capped off with Senior Josh Seabolt winning his second consecutive State Title.

At 120 lbs Senior Braiden Lynn went 2-2 on the weekend.  Braiden's first loss was a heartbreaker, losing 3-1 in sudden victory overtime to a Fredonia wrestler who ended up wrestling for  the State title. Braiden a 3 time state qualifier for the Bluejays ended the season with a 30-6 record and just one takedown short of bringing home his second state medal.  At 182 lbs. Junior Dylan Newton wrestled an outstanding tournament and brought home the fourth place State medal.  Dylan went 4-2 on the weekend in route to earning his 1st State medal.  Along the way Dylan handily defeated two highly ranked wrestlers to reach the consolation Finals match.  Dylan ended up 30-10 on the year and this was his second trip to the State tournament.  The highlight of the State Tournament was Josh Seabolt’s attempt to win back to back State Titles.  Seabolt defeated Palic of Marion by a 5-4 decision to win his second state title.  Seabolt 4-0 on the weekend, 33-0 on the season, & 129-11 in his career became the first Cimarron Bluejay to qualify for the State tournament all four years.  The Bluejays finished a respectable 15th out 75 plus teams represented at the 321A State championships.
