Wrestling Week 4 Results

Week 4 - The Wrestlers travelled to Leoti last Friday for a Double dual versus Leoti and Dodge City JV.  The Bluejays went 2-0 on the night. They defeated Dodge City 58 to 9 and  Leoti 41 to 15.  
Versus Dodge City, both teams were open at 106 and 113,  Dodge city won the 120 lb match by forfeit and Cimarron’s Adam McPhail  won by forfeit at 126 lbs.  At 132 lbs. Alex McPhail won 12-0 earning a major decision. Colby Johnson won by fall at 138lbs.  Cimarron’s Antonio Urrutia won by forfeit at 145 lbs.  Starting at 152 pounds the bluejays gained momentum in the match and rattled off four consecutive pins.  Earning pins were Garet Walker at 152, Tate Seabolt at 160lbs., Ambrose Shaughnessy at 170, and Dylan Newton at 182.  Dodge City halted the streak of Bluejay pins with 7-0 decision over Cimarron’s Tyler Johnson.  Dodge City’s momentum didnt last long, The Bluejays Tanner Dewey earned a 1st period fall at 220 lbs followed by Chris Inguanza winning by forfeit at heavy weight.
Versus Leoti, both teams were open at 106, 113 and 120.  Adam McPhail at 126, and Alex McPhail 132 kicked things off by both winning  their matches by decision.  Colby Johnson earned his second win on the night with  a tech fall at 138 lbs.  Eli Greene won by forfeit at 145 lbs.  At 152 lbs Cimarron’s Garet lost a close match by a 4-1 decision. Tate Seabolt sparked the Bluejays with a 13 second pin at 160 lbs.  The next two bluejays rode Seabolt’s momentum with pins of their own.  Kyler Henry at 170 and Dylan Newton at 182 lbs.  Leoti earned a pin of their own over Cimarron’s Tyler Johnson at 195.  Tanner Dewey earned his second pin of the night at 220 lbs to give the Bluejays a commanding lead in the dual.  Leoti capped the dual off with a first period pin over Cimarron’s Chris Inguanza at Heavyweight.  
There were 5 exhibition matches on the night as well.  
Eli Greene son by pin, Antonio Urrutia had to Injury Default, Michael Roijas won by a 10-8 decision, Mason Eskam won a 9-4 decision and Jarrett Bogner won by pin.

Week 3 - Wrestlers continue success at Hoisington last Friday.  They finished 3rd as a team and finished only 5 points behind the first place team. Individual results:

Champions: 126-Adam McPhail, 182-Dylan Newton, & 220-Tanner Dewey

Second place- 132-Alex McPhail, & 160-Tate Seabolt

Third Place- 145-Antonio Urrutia, 152-Garet Walker, & 195 Tyler Johnson

4th Place- 138-Eli Greene, & 170-Kyler Henry

Others competing- 126-Alex Sefried, 138-Colby Johnson, 152-Mason Eskam, 160-Jarrett Bogner, 160-Michael Roijas, 170-Ambrose Shaughnessy, 285-Chris Inguanza, 285 Blake Schilling

Week 2 - Another strong showing for the Bluejay Wrestlers yesterday in Ellis.  The team finished 3rd overall.(1/2 point from 2nd)  Individually we came away with 4 Individual Champions!!  126-Adam McPhail, 160-Tate Seabolt, 170-Ambrose Shaughnessy and 182-Dylan Newton all went 5-0 on the day.  132-Alex McPhail and 152-Garet Walker earned 3rd place honors and HWT Chris Inguanza placed 4th.  220-Tanner Dewey and  170-Kyler Henry both went 3-2 on the day to finish 5th.  Freshman Mason Eskam picked up his first two high school victories.  106-Imiric Duncan, 126-Alex Sefried, 160- Jarrett Bogner, 160-Michael Riojas, & 145-Antonio Urrutia all picked up one victory on the day.  Others competing were: 138-Colby Johnson, 145-Eli Greene, 170-Brady Lyons, and Tyler Johnson at 195

Wrestling Season Begins - The bluejay wrestlers kicked off the season at Hoxie this past Saturday, December 1. Many of the 321a wrestling powerhouses were competing at this tournament. As a team we finished 5 out of 12 teams. 4 bluejay wrestlers made it to the Championship finals match: 126-Adam McPhail, 152-Garet Walker, 160- Tate Seabolt, and Dylan Newton at 182lbs. All four lost their championship match to finish runner up. 132lber Alex McPhail was in a two way tie for third, but finished 4th based on the tie breaking criterion. 138-Colby Johnson, 145-Antonio Urrutia, 170lb Ambrose Shaughnessy, & 220lber-Tanner Dewey all won matches for the bluejays, but fell short of medalling. Others competing for the bluejays were: 126-Alex Sefried, 145-Eli Greene, 152-Mason Eskam, 160-Jarrett Bogner, 160-Michael Riojas, 170-Kyler Henry, 195lbs-Tyler Johnson, and 285 Chris Inguanza.
